The Catholic Central High School Crusaders defeated the home team Laurier Rams 30-9 in senior high school football action on Thursday, October 9.
LDCSB Cross Country Run
London, Ontario ---20081007--Nine year old gilrs burst off the starting line of during the London District Catholic School Board's Annual Cross Country Meet at Regina Mundi College. More than 8,000 elementary school children will participate in the four day event which began on Monday, October 6 and continues through Thursday, October 9. In addition to the the cross country run, is a fitness walk for students of all abilities to participate in.

Western's annual Homecoming parade is a tradition on flatbeds that runs north on Richmond Street to the University of Western Ontario.

Diabetes Ride
More than 300 people participated in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation annual Ride For Diabetes Research at the John Labatt Centre on Friday, October 3. Teams of 5 spent 8 minutes each on stationary bikes competing in several contests including most kilometres clocked. Organizers hoped to raise $55,000 for research to find a cure for diabetes and it's complications.

St. Joseph
Longtime volunteers David and Erin Nash were honoured Thursday night by the St. Joseph's Health Care Foundation at its annual tribute dinner held at the London Convention Centre. Their outstanding records as volunteers were recognized as well as their long commitment to St. Joseph's. Tickets to the gala event were sold out with the proceeds from the night going to support The Spirit of St. Joseph's Health Care Fund.

St. Thomas police have made an arrest in the 2006 murder case of city senior Marcel Lachance.
Pirates
Close to 70 area high school students are staging the Pirates of
Penzance, Sept. 23 to Oct. 4, as part of the Grand Theatre's High School
Project. The students get the chance to work with theatre mentors on
stage and behind the scenes in the annual project, which has been a part
of the London theatre scene since 1998.

Liberal leader Stephane Dion , joined by former leadership contender Bob Rae and a team of MP's , made a campaign stop at the University of Western Ontario where he promised $1.2 billion in funding for student loans, grants and research.
